After launching a war on the media, the former reality show star again will skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this year and in his place, he will send his press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, according to Politico. Sarah Sanders has had her own contentious relationship with the press so it should be an interesting evening.
“The White House has informed us that the president does not plan to participate in this year’s dinner but that he will actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment,” White House Correspondents’ Association President Margaret Talev said on Friday.
“In keeping with tradition, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders also will represent the administration at the head table,” Talev added.

While that sounds like a professionally written statement, Trump said in an interview Friday with “Bernie & Sid in the Morning” that he is not attending because the press “is so bad and so fake.”
Trump says it’s “probably pretty unlikely” that he’ll attend the WH Correspondents’ Dinner. Tells @bernieandsid it’s because the press is “so bad and so fake.”

Trump’s favorite target, CNN, will be honored at the dinner. The network won the WHCA’s Merriman Smith Award in the broadcast category for its January 2017 report on how the intelligence community believed Russia had compromising information on Trump, according to Politico.
We’re pretty sure that Trump has another reason for not attending the dinner. In 2011, then again in 2016, Obama mocked the former reality show star.
It’s all about Trump’s massive ego. Even when he fires someone from his administration, the cowardly so-called president does it on Twitter instead of facing the individual he’s ousting. And now, he can’t even face the press. Sad!
