The official White House Twitter account has randomly tweeted, and then promptly deleted, a tweet that under current US President Trump, the US economy will double in size more than 10 years faster than it would have under President Bush or President Obama. We captured the screenshot before it was deleted.
Please do not think they had a sudden change of mind or they believe they were wrong. It was because they misspelled the word “States.”
The curious tweet has left the general public and the wider media perplexed as it mentions no figures or sources whatsoever to back up the claim. Actually, that claim was so stupid, so impossible that people would have ridiculed them anyway. With the president’s current public woes, it appears that the tweet is a rather desperate attempt to try and display his economic credentials — which would be fine if there was any sort of proof that the claim was true.
The tweet has a definite smell of desperation with an added whiff of a tyrant. The tweet is reminiscent of many of the world’s autocratic regimes, many of whom use disinformation to convince citizens that the rulers are doing a better job than they often are. Perhaps with his recent meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Leader Kim Jong-Un, Trump has been taking notes. He has seemingly, in recent times, tried to model himself on the likes of Putin and is desperate to join these leaders who he sees as strong.
This attempt at disinformation is likely to be heavily attacked by the media as a blatant attempt to distract the public from Trump’s many public issues. These publicly displayed woes appear to only be getting worse for Trump as his former lawyer Michael Cohen has proven to be the thorn in Trump’s side we suspected he might be.
Cohen has a veritable treasure trove of recordings of the president. Among these tapes appears to be confirmation of potential collusion between the Trump family and Russian state actors. If this link is shown to be true, Trump is in real trouble. Bragging like this might be brave, but increasingly, it looks like a very sinister and stupid move by an under-pressure administration that may fall apart at any minute.
