If you missed Donald Trump’s first official State of the Union address on Tuesday night, you’re probably lucky because it was everything you expected it to be — simply disgusting.
Close to the beginning of his address, Trump honored 12-year-old Preston Sharp — a sweet, innocent boy who started a national movement to place flags on the graves of veterans. You could see on Preston’s face how excited and full of pride he was to be welcomed to the White House to receive such a wonderful acknowledgment from a man that he no doubt looks up to, as most children are taught to look up to their president.
Sadly, and Preston probably won’t even realize this until he’s much older looking back at the state of our country through adult eyes, he was just a pawn in another of Trump’s disgusting games.
Young patriots like Preston teach all of us about our civic duty as Americans and I met Preston a little while ago and he is something very special, that I can tell you.”
That quote was part of Trump’s fluff job to get us all in a warm and fuzzy place, but little did Preston know, Trump asked him and his mother there to use them as a “feel good” story to warm American hearts before completely bashing black athletes for protesting racism by kneeling for the National Anthem.

Trump may have fooled a lot of people with that performance, but he sure didn’t fool me or my colleagues at Opposition Report and New Century Times. We were collectively disgusted this evening. As a mother of a son very close to Preston’s age, I wanted to cry for that poor boy, because one day he is going to wake up and realized that a man he looked up to is a complete monster.
