Despite the fact that Donald Trump’s complete lack of respect for his job title has been widely documented, many Trump voters are still in denial over it. Trump has been hands down the laziest president the United States has ever had. He has spent less time in the White House than any of his predecessors, with most of it being spent on the golf course, on Twitter, and in front of a television. He has also accomplished less than any of his predecessors over a year into his presidency. But now the truth will be harder to ignore.
Trump’s laziness and avoidance to perform his presidential duties have been noticed by our top allies in Europe, who are now angry with Trump for carelessly tearing up the Iran nuclear agreement without even acknowledging any of the concerns they brought forth. According to The Washington Post, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany had all worked tirelessly for several months to negotiate amendments to the Iran nuclear deal in response to Trump’s gripes with the agreement. In April, the allies were close to an agreement when Trump made the reckless decision to withdraw from the pact.
This move pissed off the European leaders tremendously, particularly because French President Emanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson felt Trump hadn’t even taken their concerns into consideration — even though they had made it so easy for him by editing their documents down to a mere five pages. The Post reported:
When Macron, Merkel and Johnson traveled to Washington in the days and weeks before Trump’s announcement, all came away with the feeling Trump had not read the five-page document they had prepared and perhaps was even unaware of the effort. In Brussels, where the E.U. is headquartered, many are skeptical that any further discussion is possible with the United States.”
Wow. How can anyone have confidence in Trump, when he doesn’t even read some of the most important documents or know what’s going on? Trump’s laziness and choice to remain clueless in his presidency continue to damage key relationships for America as well as our global standing.
