Donald Trump has become well known for several things America isn’t proud of, and that list seems to be getting longer by the day. One of the things Trump has become infamous for is his extremely weird behavior when meeting other world leaders, particularly during greetings.
Trump’s weird, creepily long, aggressive handshakes have been long documented — and he just struck again. Earlier today, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Trump to talk about several foreign policy issues. Macron said ahead of the meeting:
This state visit is really important for our people and very important for us. During the state visit we will have the opportunity to discuss a lot of bilateral issues and to discuss about our security, our trade and about a lot of multilateral issues that are important to our two countries — and beyond our two countries.”
Hopefully, Macron was prepared for the weirdness that would follow. When he met up with Trump, the two leaders exchanged one of the most awkward handshakes we’ve ever seen Trump perform. You can watch this cringeworthy moment below:

It’s been widely reported that Trump uses his handshakes as a weird dominance-asserting tactic, and many world leaders have learned to respond with equal aggression. Macron is no stranger to Trump’s bizarre alpha male display and took him up on it once, resulting in a viral 29-second handshake that will make you feel ridiculously uncomfortable. Let’s revisit that moment below:
Looks like Macron has just learned to roll with the punches when it comes to man-baby Trump. France’s president has mastered the art of playing along with Trump while making sure the POTUS knows he means business.
