Unfortunately, Donald Trump’s tweets to Kanye West aren’t over.
Two days ago, America reached a new low as the President of the United States used the Twitter account where he makes presidential announcements to tweet at the rapper. But just when it seems we couldn’t be any more humiliated, Trump makes sure to keep us on our toes.
This morning, Trump praised West again on Twitter. He tweeted:
Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community – Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades – Legacy Stuff! Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history).”
Little did Trump know that he made a BIG mistake by including Chance the Rapper in there. Trump probably thought it was safe to exploit Chance the way he did with West, because Chance had publicly supported West for voicing his political views on Twitter. However, Trump misread this as support for himself — and instantly found out just how wrong he was!
Chance released his own statement on the matter after Trump gave him a shoutout in that ridiculous tweet, and it’s pretty damn amazing. Chance said:
My attempt to support Kanye is being used to discredit my brothers and sisters in the movement and I can’t sit by and let that happen.
I’d never support anyone who has made a career out of hatred, racism, and discrimination. I’d never support someone who’d talk about Chicago as if it’s hell on earth [sic] and then take steps to make life harder here for the most disenfranchised among us.
Let me make up for my poorly timed comments with immediate action and advocacy for those who need it most.”
That’s gotta hurt! Well done, Chance. Hopefully Trump will be so embarrassed that he will stay off Twitter for the rest of the day and actually do his job.
