Donald Trump is having a REALLY bad weekend now that his plans to screw over immigrants is being ruined by his enemy – the media.
The president sent a major ‘f*ck you’ to migrant families with his “zero tolerance” policy, which resulted in approximately 2,300 babies and children being taken away from their parents. The backlash to this inhumane policy was so great that the president was actually forced to eat his own words, admit he was a liar, and change the policy so that families would be detained together (still disgusting, but better).
Unfortunately, the Trump administration doesn’t give a sh*t about those 2,000+ children and has no plans or intentions of reuniting them with their families. That’s why major media companies – BuzzFeed News, ProPublica, The Intercept, and Univision – have decided to unite “in search of facts” to find the kids that Trump took away from their parents and reunite them. BuzzFeed News made the announcement with the following statement:
In search of the facts, BuzzFeed News is today partnering with ProPublica, the Intercept, Univision News, Animal Politico, and Plaza Publica to gather vital information about the children in immigration detention facilities and shelters.
This map identifies facilities where children may be held. We are asking anyone who has direct knowledge about a family that has been separated or a facility where children are being held to reach out to us. You can fill out the form on this website or email us at [email protected] To learn how to reach us confidentially, go to tips.buzzfeed.com.”
BuzzFeed News also slammed the Trump administration for not doing a damn thing in the statement, after a judge’s order pointed out the “startling reality” that the government has no “effective system or procedure” to reunite separated families. BuzzFeed News senior investigations editor Ariel Kaminer wrote:
We’re inviting people to use the online tool, which ProPublica designed, or to reach out to us through our tips line or secure messaging, to help us tell the stories of people who are affected by this policy. And to hold accountable those who oversee it.”
Once again, the media proves to be more moral and trustworthy than the president. We can only hope that this initiative will be widely supported so that Trump can’t tear it down.
