As Donald Trump has gone through nearly his entire first year in the White House with just one single major legislative accomplishment (and a long track record of golf games and vacation days), Americans have every reason to be worried about what he’s going to do in 2018. But unfortunately, Trump’s incompetence and aversion to hard work isn’t the only thing we should be worried about.
According to a new report from Axios, Trump’s own advisors are becoming incredibly concerned about the chronic instability of Trump’s mood in 2018, and they expect “Full Trump” to be running rampant. Apparently, Trump’s advisors believe that Trump has the potential to become even more unhinged than he’s ever been.
Axios reported that over the last year, Trump has somewhat been held back by advisers such as Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and economic adviser Gary Cohn. These men kept Trump in check in his first year in the White House, but advisors are now worried that Trump will break away from them, ignore all reasonable advice, and start a trade war with China. Axios wrote:
Advisers recognize that the day of reckoning will come in 2018, regardless of whether economic adviser Gary Cohn and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson — who advocated restraint — stay or go.”
Having Trump run around unsupervised is terrifying enough, but this next bit should concern us all — Trump’s advisors are saying that Trump has an unhealthy “fixation” with launching a military attack on North Korea, and they’re extremely worried that he will ditch the advice of his top foreign policy advisors and launch a strike. Axios reported:
Some top officials have told us Trump’s belligerent rhetoric on the subject makes them nervous. There is a reason the harshest assessments of Trump usually leak after North Korea meetings.”
Trump just gets more terrifying as the days go by. With any luck, Trump’s Russia investigation will catch up with him and he will be removed from office. Until then, Americans will just continue to live in fear and humiliation under Trump.
