Donald Trump is no stranger to courtrooms. He’s involved in at least 169 Federal suits according to a recent investigation performed by lawnewz.com. Many of these complaints are over his shady business dealings. The GOP front-runner has threatened to add to his litigation rap-sheet at least three times throughout the campaign. He targeTED Ted Cruz over his eligibility to run for President. He threatened to sue over imaginary voter fraud in Iowa, when Cruz handed Trump his first loss. More recently, he took aim at the media in general with his 1st Amendment trampling plan to expand libel laws to include hurt feelings.
During their investigation into how The Donald’s entire career has been one excruciatingly long, sad episode of Ally McBeal, lawnewz.com uncovered details about a creepy $127 million suit filed in 1997. The suit was barely covered by the media and ended up being dropped for suspicious reasons, but paints a pretty smarmy picture.
Jill Harth was working for The American Dream Festival, a beauty pageant event owned by her ex-husband, George Houraney. According to the document filed with the court, Trump used his leverage as main sponsor of the event to sexually harass her on numerous occasions. Once even taking her to Ivanka’s room and promising to be “the best lover you ever have.” Maybe Donald was looking for a stand-in for Ivanka, since he has expressed a forbidden desire towards his daughter multiple times in the past. Trump has been quoted referring to his daughter, saying:
Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father…
And at another time, said,
…she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.
On an episode of the Wendy Williams show, when asked what he and Ivanka have in common, The Donald’s reply was simply, “sex.”
Let’s not forget this adorable family photo, either, where a teenage Ivanka sits on lecherous Dad’s lap atop two copulating parrots.
The creepiest part, given his numerous references to wanting to f*ck his daughter, is one incident when he allegedly forced Harth into Ivanka’s bedroom and tried to rape her. LawNewz reports:
The lawsuit was filed by Jill Harth who then went by Jill Harth Houraney on April 25, 1997. Harth, who was in her early 30’s at the time, alleged that Trump engaged in hostile and offensive sexual behavior towards her from 1992 to 1997 including “groping” her under her dress on several occasions, “forcibly” moving her to his daughter’s bedroom in an attempt to have sex with her, and repeatedly, aggressively and inappropriately propositioning her for sex. She called it “sexually abusive” and LawNewz.com spoke to her in an exclusive interview.
The filing contains plenty of details and dates to give it an air of authenticity. What’s weird is how it was almost silently dropped and dismissed without prejudice. Right around the same time a breach-of-contract suit between Trump and The American Dream Festival was settled, the sexual harassment suit quietly went away. Is this simply an example of underhanded business tactics or something more sinister? Either way, Harth isn’t talking about it. She told lawnewz.com, “I saw him [Donald] recently, and he said I looked good. I have nothing but good things to say about Donald.”
This is in stark contrast to the court document, which seems to confirm suspicions that he is a smarmy misogynist. Trump has said he never settles lawsuits, as doing so invites more people to sue. This is an obvious lie. Trump settles frequently when he feels he can benefit from doing so. The settlement with American Dream Festival seems to have benefited him by burying the fruits of an attempt to be a womanizer.
