Unfortunately, this morning American once again saw the horrifying consequences of a GOP-led Congress that refuses to do anything to actually make this country a safer place. Even after the striking amount of mass shootings that are directly correlated with the country’s relaxed gun laws, the Republican Party remains a slave to the National Rifle Association — and more children are dying because of it.
Earlier this morning at a high school in Santa Fe, Texas, America suffered its third school shooting in a week’s time. While this story is still developing, officials have counted as many as eight people to have been killed in this incident.
Of course, we can always count on our Republicans to do what they feel is best in response to mass shootings — offer their thoughts and prayers (instead of really doing anything). That’s exactly what GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz did on Twitter:
Heidi and I are keeping all the students and faculty at Santa Fe High School in our prayers this morning, along with all first responders on the scene. Please be safe and heed warnings from local officials.”
The GOP is in big trouble if it continues to simply pray about gun violence, hoping it will magically disappear with no real action. America is sick and tired of their “thoughts and prayers”, and it’s evident that this country is going to vote these pro-NRA senators out the first chance they get. The responses to Cruz’s tweet were brutal (but well-deserved), and show that Texans are fed up with his pro-gun agenda. They exposed his bullsh*t on the spot:
Cruz’s constituents did not hold back at all as they called him out for his loyalty to the NRA. America needs people in government who will actually protect this country and make it safer through better gun legislation — not NRA slaves like Cruz (and the president).
