If Trump thought he was immune to criticism from Puerto Ricans themselves, he’s got another think coming. Puerto Ricans are livid with him over his tweets about the unfolding humanitarian crisis, especially where he said that they want everyone to do everything for them.
It’s so bad that CNN reporter Boris Sanchez actually said he can’t repeat a lot of what they’re telling him.
He was able to say that people feel Trump is not only badly misinformed but also totally ignoring them:
The community is coming together. We are doing this ourselves.”
Others said that he needs to come to Puerto Rico and see the damage himself before he can slam them for not doing enough on their own. One woman also said:
It is his obligation as the president to care for Americans, and we are Americans here in Puerto Rico.”
But it’s the fact that Sanchez said he couldn’t repeat what many had said on television that’s so damning, and it suggests they had some seriously harsh cursing for Trump. It’s also possible they were angry as all hell about his saying that things are going very well. For the people living there, though, it’s not.
Watch Sanchez describe the growing anger with Trump below:
