Donald Trump is supposed to give a major graduation commencement speech today at the United States Naval Academy, but two Navy vets have just made sure that Trump won’t be able to enjoy and revel in the honor.
Well aware that Trump makes every honorable, significant speech all about himself and uses his speeches to promote his disgusting agenda at the most inappropriate times, USNA graduates Daniel Barkhuff and William Burke wrote a brutal op-ed for the Baltimore Sun which stated that the new grads should just ignore the president.
In the op-ed, the two veterans wrote about men who were actually courageous and worthy of giving advice to Navy vets — something that Trump certainly cannot provide. Speaking of men who actually did risk their lives to serve the country (unlike Trump, who dodged the draft), the two Navy vets blatantly pointed out why Trump should not be giving this speech. They wrote:
James Stockdale chose to smash his own face in with a stool rather than give ‘aid and comfort’ to the enemy. In the early years of Stockdale’s seven-year imprisonment, the current president of the United States was enjoying the comforts of Wharton Business School, having received four draft deferments to attend college (he received another after graduation for supposedly having bone spurs in his heels).”
Several other Navy Academy graduates were also mentioned in the op-ed, each compared to the horrendous, shameful actions that Trump took instead. In particular, the two Navy vets mentioned that while these USNA heroes were serving America, Trump was being a reality television star and cheating on his wives. The veterans wrote:
Contrast this to the personal and professional honor of the sitting president of the United States, who time and again makes small choices guided by self-interest, ego, impulse and immediate self-gratification. He could never do what we ask our U.S. Naval Academy graduates to do. He is a physical coward, a liar and no leader at all.”
Every word in the op-ed is brutal, but so true. This is sure to put a damper on Trump’s speech later today, and we won’t be surprised if he has a meltdown during it.
