Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell endorsed Donald Trump. And now he’s lying about what Trump will be like as president while disrespecting President Obama at the same time.
During an interview with right-wing radio host Hugh Hewitt about McConnell’s new book, the Kentucky Republican claimed that Donald Trump will respect the limits of presidential power.
“I think Donald Trump will understand when he’s sworn in the limits of his authority,” McConnell said.
“He’ll have a White House counsel. There will be others who point out there’s certain things you can do and you can’t do. And it’s not quite like, you know, making a speech before a big audience and entertaining people. And I think he’s a smart guy, and I think he’s going to figure that out. So I’m not worried about it.”
But as we all know, Donald Trump has openly vowed to wage war on two major tenets of the Constitution, freedom of the press and freedom of religion.
In February, Trump openly declared that if he wins he will make it easy for anyone to sue the media over negative stories even if the stories are factually true.
Furthermore, Trump made it clear in December that he intends to violate freedom of religion by banning Muslims from entering the country simply because they practice Islam.
Also, Trump wants to bring back torture and refuses to rule out using nuclear weapons in Europe and the Middle East.
Trump is a madman on a quest for absolute power yet McConnell says he’s “not worried about it.”
Despite Trump’s open intentions, McConnell insisted that President Obama is the true tyrant.
“No president has pushed the limits more than Barack Obama,” McConnell claimed. “And people who are outraged by some of the things that Donald Trump says and are afraid he’s going to push the limits too far ought to look at the current occupant of the White House. I mean, you know, he has done it on virtually every issue.”
Except President Obama hasn’t and McConnell is a total liar.
Republicans constantly complain about President Obama issuing executive orders, but the fact is that President Obama has signed less executive orders than both George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and I don’t remember Republicans calling either of them dictators. It should also be noted that if President Obama were a true tyrant he would have had McConnell’s head on a pike years ago. Because that’s what tyrants do to their political opponents, especially loudmouths like McConnell who slander their political opponents for political gain.
And McConnell certainly did his best to slander President Obama is his new book.
“President Obama is no different in private than in public,” McConnell wrote.
“He’s like the kid in the class who exerts a hell of a lot of effort in making sure everyone knows he’s the smartest one in the room. He talks down to people whether in a meeting, among colleagues in the White House, or addressing the nation. He’s simply a very liberal guy who’s determined to move the country toward a kind of progressive ideal that Western European societies embraced decades ago. He has a bold, progressive agenda, and if he can’t get what he wants through the legislative branch, he’ll work to do so through the bureaucracy.”
Of course, you only hear Republicans saying this kind of bullshit about President Obama. They’ve been trying to portray him as an “uppity n****r” ever since he won the 2008 Election. McConnell is doing the same thing now.
Kentucky voters should be ashamed of themselves for keeping this man in the Senate.
