Last night, former FBI Director James Comey proved to the entire country that he possesses a class that Donald Trump will never have. During a town hall with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Comey was asked a question in front of the audience that granted him an amazing opportunity to lash out at Trump – and Comey responded brilliantly.
During the town hall, a young man asked the ex-FBI director about the numerous attacks the POTUS has unleashed on him. The man said, “In recent weeks, President Trump has named you ‘Slippery Comey.’ What is your nickname for him?”
Cooper also elaborated on Trump’s attacks, reminding Comey and the crowd, “By the way, he’s also called you shady, a showboat, a grandstander, a liar and a leaker.”
Comey’s response was one for the books. At first, he made everyone erupt with laughter as he said:
And you’re forgetting, two formulations of ‘slimeball.’ The first with no space, then a space.”
But his real response took everyone by surprise and showed just how dignified of a man he truly is. It was a moment that Trump will never be able to compete with, because he just isn’t capable of the poise and class that Comey naturally possesses. Comey said:
I call him the President of the United States, because I respect the office. No matter my concerns about him, I want him to be successful. We should root for our president. That also doesn’t mean we should fail to hold him accountable, especially when he threatens our core values.”

This is truly a defining moment, and a harsh reminder that America has so few people like Comey in power now, thanks to Trump.
