Following Donald Trump’s return from Singapore in which he fawned over North Korea’s brutal dictator, legitimized him, then made a deal in which we got nothing in return, Shepard Smith of Fox News blasted the former reality show star.
“The United States made concessions in exchange for no hard promises,” Smith said, adding that North Korea only made “a vague commitment to work together towards denuclearization.”
“The agreement the leaders signed are very short on specifics,” he said.
“The talk happened, hands shaken, photos taken, and during a private meeting, promises were apparently made,” Smith continued to say. “But who wanted what? Well, America demanded complete verifiable and irreversible denuclearization. C.V.I.D. Complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization.”
“There is no guarantee of that,” he said.
“Not even words to that effect,” Smith continued. “And we may not know for years whether we’re actually now on that road, or left in the potholes of paths past.”
Smith explained that Kim wanted a photo-op and to be legitimized.
“But Kim Jong Un? He wanted the photos,” he said. “The seat at the table. He wanted the legitimacy that came with the event. The handshake with America’s president. And he wanted those military exercises with the Americans and the South Koreans that happen every year to stop.”
“Kim Jong Un got it all,” Smith said, “for actually doing nothing.”
Kim has quite a résumé, filled with human rights’ abuses, including starving his own people.
“Plus he got a promise, lacking specifics, granted, of security for the North Korean regime,” he added. “A regime that has an estimated 120,000 political prisoners across the nation. A regime that tortures and murders its own citizens, imprisons children for the actions of parents and grandparents, and a leader who has committed crimes against humanity.”
“No specifics,” he added.
Then Shep pointed to Trump claiming that North Koreans love their leader.
“President Trump insisted the people of the most entrenched land in all the world, North Korea, love their leader,” Smith continued. “President Trump says he trusts Chairman Kim, and that he’s ready to start a new chapter with North Korea. What will the president’s special bond with Kim Jong Un mean for the U.S. and its allies? No specifics.”
“No specifics of how to do it,” Smith said. “No timeline on getting it done. No verification. No inspection. No nothing else, just generalities.”
Trump gave in to North Korea’s brutal dictator while getting nothing in return as conservatives cheered him on. History will not look back fondly at this time in our lives. A time when Trump’s cult-like following cheered him on while he destroyed our country. We’re pretty sure that Trump will not call out Smith on Twitter after being dragged around like a chew toy.
