Donald Trump’s Administration is one of the most dangerous in modern history. Case in point — its support for the sale of printable 3-D guns. Yes, you heard that right. The Trump Administration wants gun-loving neanderthals to be able to print killing machines. Well, there is one person who has had enough: Democratic Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts.
Senator Markey is so upset that the Trump Administration is championing something so dangerous that he is threatening to block a State Department nominee — even though the State Department is woefully understaffed at the moment. At a hearing to confirm R. Clarke Cooper, Markey said directly to the nominee:
Until the president agrees to reverse this policy and prohibit the online publication of these dangerous blueprints — a decision that is entirely within his authority — I intend to place a hold on your nomination.”
Cooper has been nominated to a position that would require him to get in line with the Trump Administration’s position on these gun blueprints, which is Senator Markey’s reasoning for the hold-up. Markey said of the situation:
You are asking us to confirm you to a position where you will be defending the indefensible.”
Being able to print guns from the internet is definitely indefensible. Think the United States is a killing field now? Just wait until these blueprints are in the hands of every gun nut with a computer and a 3-D printer in the nation. The very idea of this is outrageous and dangerous as hell. It’s almost like the NRA, the GOP, and the Trump Administration want more Americans to die. Imagine that. Not so “pro-life” after all, eh? Then again, they never were. That is just a ruse to rally their lunatic Christian Right base and control the lives of others. Small government conservatives indeed.
