Donald Trump’s former longtime person lawyer, Michael Cohen, is now under federal investigation for tax fraud after possibly underreporting his income from his taxi medallion business, according to what people familiar with the investigation told The Wall Street Journal. Cohen is also being investigated for wire fraud and campaign finance violations, the Washington Post reports.
Cohen, 51, who is already being investigated for various business dealings by federal prosecutors of New York, must be feeling a lot of pressure right now. Cohen has recently indicated — or at least hinted — that he might flip to give information on his former client, Donald Trump.
Stormy Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, reacted to the news, saying that Cohen should have flipped when he had the chance. Avenatti is pretty good at trolling public figures, so perhaps he’s trying to give Cohen a little push in the right direction.
“He should have come clean and publicly disclosed everything he knew if he was a true ‘Patriot,’” Avenatti tweeted. “He and his lawyers completely misplayed this and now he will rightfully pay a very steep price.”
Michael Cohen should have done the right thing when he had the chance. He should have come clean and publicly disclosed EVERYTHING he knew if he was a true “Patriot.” He and his lawyers completely misplayed this and now he will rightfully pay a very steep price. #Basta

That’s some good advice because according to the report, a source said that Cohen’s income from the medallion business in the past five years included hundreds of thousands of dollars that he received in cash and other payments.
Cohen has not been charged with a crime (yet) and the Wall Street Journal said that he denies any wrongdoing. Lanny Davis, Cohen’s attorney, declined to comment to the Journal “out of respect for the ongoing investigation.”
Speaking of flipping, Rick Gates, who served in Donald Trump’s campaign as an advisor, testified on Monday in Paul Manafort’s trial, then began listing the crimes he committed with Trump’s former campaign manager.
Michael, time is running out. Tick tock.
